What does it cost to become a consultant?

- New Consultant Kit: Includes 25 titles and all your business supplies including your website. It is $149 plus tax and free shipping.
The titles are yours to keep - so there is absolutely no risk in giving Usborne Books & More a test-drive! The commission you will earn for your first 2 shows will exceed your investment! Every month there is a special for the kit that may include discounted shipping, or refunds. Ask your consultant for details.
How much money can I make?
The income opportunity is limitless! As a new consultant, you will make between 25% and 30%, based on your sales volume in that month. When you choose to become a Team Leader, you’ll make even more. We have one of the most generous compensation plans of any direct sales company. You will find this business to be quite lucrative. The average income of a home show is $100.
How is this different from other home show businesses?
We offer a product that everyone needs! Books are right up there with food and clothing! Even if your guests do not have children of their own, they will need to buy gifts for the children in their life. Children grow up fast and are constantly need new books. Many of our hostesses will have a party once a year, as the children in their life get older.
I am not a “Sales Person”. Can this still work for me?
Yes! Very few of us are naturally born salespeople! In fact, most people join Usborne Books & More without any sales experience. We believe in building relationships. You are simply sharing your favorite books and helping others choose books for the kids in their life. Your enthusiasm and the books will speak loud and clear.
How will I be supported?
You are not alone! There are a multitude of training opportunities available with Usborne Books & More. Whatever your learning style and schedule permits, there is something for you! Your kit will include a Consultant Guide with great information. You will also have access to written and audio training on all aspects of the Usborne Books & More business. Your Team Leader will provide personalized training and are excited to help you. There are monthly live training meetings in many parts of the country. There are also company sponsored regional and national trainings and conventions for you to attend.
Are there monthly sales quotas I must meet?
None! How refreshing to work your business at your pace! This business is flexible and family friendly. We do find that our most successful consultants hold at least one party per week.
What is the Write Your Own Success Story program?
During your first 12 weeks as an Usborne Books & More consultant, you can earn a refund on your kit, free Success Kits (filled with books and supplies), and cash bonuses as you build your business. Your Team Leader can answer other questions you may have about this exciting program.
What is the model of this kind of business?
Usborne Books & More is a Home BASED business not a STAY-at-home business. It is not possible to earn a significant income without showing the books. The business is designed to be run from your home, without warehousing the books (i.e. NO inventory is required). You show the books and take orders through home parties, book fairs, events, and direct sales. You submit the orders via a computer order entry system (provided to you with your kit). Orders are shipped to the location you specify usually within about 4-7 business days, via UPS.
This business is based on relationships, fun and integrity. It is a thrilling environment in which we operate. We offer incredible award winning books that are not widely available to the public. People listen to us describe the Usborne and Kane Miler books, buy them from us and ask us to come provide the same service in their home, school or facility. The simplicity of this business is that with proper training, the business is self-sustaining without the cost of advertising. One home party begets two; one book fair begets a repeat. We fill our calendars based on referrals and successful showings.
We have all types of people in this business. Usborne Books & More has many homeschoolers, mothers of school-aged and young children, people who already work full- time, professionals with PhD degrees, retirees and people who just love the books. There are no minimum time requirements. You may work as much or as little as you want. However, your earning will be directly proportional to your efforts.
